Every week you’ll hear a live studio session on our radio program. Every week we include one in our web magazine. And every week, we get emails and phone calls from people who want to get their hands on hard copies of those sessions. Let it be known we’ve heard your requests.

CBC Radio 3 Sessions Vol. 1 is a collection of tracks from some of our most memorable and popular studio recording sessions from the past few years. You’ll hear The Weakerthans’ frontman John K. Samson perform an exclusive acoustic track, Hot Hot Heat just before they were scooped up with a multi-million deal, Buck 65 playing for the first time with the live band that would later appear on his groundbreaking Talkin’ Honky Blues, The Hidden Cameras in the coming-out party that helped land them an international record deal, the Rheostatics warming up for their first annual Fall Nationals, Manitoba giving a peek at what he’d been up to in the months following his debut, the quiet side of The Constantines, and much more.

The tracks on CBC Radio 3 Sessions are only the beginning. On CBCRadio3.com, you can hear more songs, see photos, read articles and explore our vast musical archives. It’s time to find out about all the Canadian music the other radio stations haven’t been playing.

Holy snap. A compilation CD that is done right., November 12, 2004
Review By:angela black

This really is just the best thing going. Usually compilation CDs have a few anchor songs and the rest is just a lot of filler garbage thrown in to make it look good. Every song on this CD rocks my socks off and it makes me want to quit my job managing this site and go hang out with the folks at Radio3 for a while. Are they busy? I'll get them coffee as long as I can just sit in and listen. Okay. Okay. I know how important I am here, so I'll stay. Phew. That was close. But nevertheless, I think every one of these artists could be my best friend.
